Elegant Depression Glass 15" Serving Platter
2375 Fairfax Pattern in Honey Amber
    from Fostoria
not quite pristine but a great piece to use whenever you're feeding the whole gang
Discovered in a recent fine estate sale at Jamesville, North Carolina and today offered here for your enjoyment and consideration is this lovely, large depression glass serving platter in honey amber color from the elegant Fairfax glassware pattern by famed American maker Fostoria Glass Co. of Moundsville, West Virginia. Our platter is from a glassware line introduced in the late 1920s that continued in production until sometime in 1941. It's a big boy, ample enough to serve the largest of holiday birds with dimensions of about 15.25" x 12" and rim height of about 1.25". The platter's center is plenty deep to contain drippings and juices so your tablecloth remains unstained.
    You may
not need a serving platter so large at every occasion, but when the entire family sits down to dinner we're betting you'll be glad you have this one!
Condition here is good, but still something less than pristine. We noted a single small nick on the lower aspect of the platter's rim at one end. It's about the size of a pinhead and can be spotted on visual inspection if you're looking. It's noticeable on fingertip exam only as you feel the underside of the rim. Additionally, light to moderate surface wear is noted that's
    commensurate
with age approaching 90 years, typical use, and likely stacked storage of dishware in the cupboard. Glass if of good clarity and presents no stain, discoloration, or hard water deposits. Ours is an item that though not "perfect" still presents well enough to satisfy most good occasions. We feel like it will be well appreciated by both hostess and collector alike.
This lot is priced at only .95. Domestic shipping will be by choice of USPS Priority Mail or Parcel Select service to any US address with postage calculated and charged according to shipping weight not exceeding five pounds. Naturally, we'll pack with care to help ensure safe arrival.
