Antique Hand-Painted Porcelain Portrait Cabinet Plate Set Lot of 23 Royal Vienna

Description

This auction is for a set of twenty-three antique hand-painted Royal Vienna porcelain cabinet plates with gilded rims.
They measure approximately 8-1/8" in diameter and feature idyllic scenes of farmers, peasant girls, gypsies, nobles, and others in their typical historic regional costumes and surroundings. Captions in German identifying the subject of the paintings appear on their bottoms, and beehive maker's marks and two sets of numbers are impressed there as well.
Most are in wonderful condition for their age, and the vast majority are free of chips and cracks. However, their gilding does show signs of minor wear, and there are superficial scratches in several of the paintings. One plate has line-shaped blemish -- perhaps a repaired crack -- extending inward from its border.
